Post The Draytons CPZ going ahead
on: August 15, 2011, 10:13

In July it was announced at the local ward forum that CPZ is to go ahead in the Draytons with an implementation in late August. As a resident living close to West Ealing station i am delighted that this is going ahead so that we can have access to parking near our homes and not have to fight with commuters, shoppers, holiday makers etc all parking here all day, weekends and for extended stays. I would like to see it implemented with time zones of Monday to Saturday, with two times zones each day. I feel its important to include Saturdays to stop cars being parked here from friday afternoon to monday morning by people living outside the area which regularly occurs. It is my understanding that it is being proposed that the south side of Manor and the west side of drayton green is to have all day paid parking to accommodate the wider community. I look forward to this being implemented.

I did not welcome introduction of these CPZ at all but understand the joy of being able to park outside your own home. Bear in mind it now comes at the outrageous cost of £75 a year and visitors vouchers for your friends on Saturday at £3.50 a day. Fine if you do not have friends arriving by car but otherwise quite a big burden. The cars parked there from Friday to Monday were probably just those living in the area and working longer hours Monday to Friday so they could avoid paying for parking. In addition markings on the street are sometimes confusing. And why is single yellow line working Saturdays? Anyway restriction on the school entrance indicates that you can park there Saturday to Sunday but still tickets are issued on Saturdays? I would welcome two time zones allowing parking for everyone during the day and restricting it early in the morning and in the afternoon.
