Couldn't find a thread for this, but wanted to say its a fantastic idea. I've been up this morning and left a bag of old paperbacks for ya.  (not just 'left', I hasten to add - but placed nicely on the shelf  Grin )

Thanks for leaving some books KRW - that's exactly what we're trying to promote. We'll keep adding books from our stock as needed, but it would be fantastic if people leave books they don't want anymore so that other people can discover them!

That's amazing - I borrowed a book today, read it on the train and put it back - thank you to whoever provided Nella Last's War, it's a wonderful book.  I'll be donating some of my books.

We got that as part of a box of books from an Ealing resident - great that it got some use. Keep checking the book-swap; you never know what might appear there... Smiley

yes, thanks, Chris- I arrived there on my way to Cambridge the other morning, and had nothing to read - so I picked up Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, which is very entertaining! I'll give it  back when I've finished with it.

Incidentally, I noticed the tweet the other day asking if anyone noticed if the books needed refiling. I live nearby, but couldnt reply as you don't follow me on twitter Smiley if you want to follow me, send me a pm and i'll let you know my 'twitter name'. I can always nip in and check for you.

By the way, I borrowed and replaced Salmon Fishing in the Yemen ('diverting') and have now just finished Edith Wharton's 'The Children' (about the dreadfulness of family life amongst the wealthy during the 20s) which was beautifully written and enlightening. We think we've got it bad - at least we're not filthy rich and having serial marriages and producing children who don't know where they belong. Or....are we? (Anyway, more of a fun read than I've made it sound; I'll replace it shortly.)

I popped in yesterday and there was room for probably another 10 books. Chris - do you also rotate the books too?

Sounds like it might need a few more. I usually top up on the weekend, and I find that that's enough to keep it reasonably fresh. However, if anyone wants to take 5-10 books and replace them with a similar number, then that's fine too.

Gill - glad you've found some good ones Smiley
