1. The Tram Now the Tram plans have been shelved WEN needs to be involved in what the transport plans are regarding improving bus services along the Uxbridge Road and agree our position. West Ealing Station not opening on Sundays is still an issue. 2. Ealing 2020 David has a copy of the report produced by Urban Initiatives on Green Man Estate. David is working through the report and can't disagree with the findings. Eric will read the report and summarise for circulation. There is a new member of WEN Dean Kirkwood who has experience in regeneration. David has been in touch and hopes to meet him to discuss his possible involvement in this project. 3. SEAL No further word from Jason Stacey or EDF. David has written a letter to Jason to find out what is going on, he is awaiting a reply. 4. CPZs Eric has produced a Citizens Policy for CPZ's. David will précis the document and place it on the website. 5. Waitrose/Sainsbury's David has spoken to Julia Clements-Elliot (Councillor) regarding the outstanding issues at Waitrose - primarily sound and light pollution. There has been no new meeting re-scheduled with Waitrose to look at this. Sainsbury's trolleys still do not have coin operation. 6. Tree Felling in Mervyn Road Two trees in Mervyn Road have been felled seemingly without regard to any consultation or explanation, only a note on the trees. The telephone number on the note was not accessible. WEN's take on this whole process is the woeful lack of consultation involved. It appears the trees may have been diseased but again no explanation was forthcoming on this. Eric has written to Cllr David Millican (Northfields ward)about this episode. 7. Next Ealing Area Committee Meeting
Eric would like to raise an issue formally to see how the consultation process is supposed to work. Eric will send a list out next week for us to choose one subject from. 8. Next Public Meeting Looking at either 20th or 27th September. Suggested items are the role of the Councillor with John Popham speaking, regeneration update, transport policy now the tram has gone. David to invite local MPs along. It was agreed leafleting the following worked well last time - Farmers Market, West Ealing Station, Sainsbury's, the library. 9. Membership Membership stands at 210. Diane will focus on membership at the next public meeting. 10. Newsletter Eric has published list for the September issue. The Islamic Centre piece needs to be supplied. 11. Website Hits on website increasing at a steady pace. In July the site had 26,788 hits and 22,959 visits which is about a 50% increase on June and markedly higher than other months. Next meeting Wednesday 1st September at the Drayton at 12.00pm - All members welcome.
