Getting to know councillors E-mail Print

Following the local election in May we now have many new councillors in the wards that cover West Ealing - Elthorne, Walpole, Northfields, Cleveland and Ealing Broadway.  As a new organisation we believe it's important to get to know our councillors and how the Council operates so that WEN can act effectively on behalf of its members.  To date we have:

  • Taken two councillors from both the Walpole and Cleveland wards on a walkbout to look at some of the key issues for these wards.  Both have been a success and we plan to arrange walkabouts with councillors from the other wards.

  • Requested a meeting with Councillor Brian Castle, who is cabinet member for Regeneration and economic development, to raise the need for a regeneration plan that treats West Ealing as a separate town centre to Ealing Broadway.

  • Attended the Council's Ealing Area Committee meeting in June where we raised the question of the need to tackle fly-tipping hot spots around West Ealing.  We put forward some ideas about how this could be done such as designating areas as ‘hot spots' and then putting up posters detailing the fines for fly-tipping and the proper ways of disposing of rubbish and unwanted goods.
