1.Public (council-run) meeting to discuss the £2m-ish
| Decided to put forward list of queries to the Council prior to the meeting. Push for the meeting to be in September, not earlier. List, for starters, other committee members pse add to this:
- What was the original thought behind the £2m; ie what kind of outcomes were anticipated or what problems was it aimed at?
- The £0.5m sub-set amount earmarked for consultation - what was the idea behind that?
- If this money is for short-term or ‘cosmetic' improvements, is there any plan nevertheless to get the most out of them long-term? Eg, would be better to have a series of clean-ups put in place than just a one-off that would soon lose impact.
- If we're to be ‘branded' as West Ealing, what is West Ealing? How are we being considered as a part of Ealing? Still part of the metropolitan district? This would be vital to any decisions about how to spend the money.
- Has any of the money already been spent since the council announcement on 4th March? If so on what?
- Ref, WEN 5th May ‘Highlights and Comments' Paper on the Tibbalds Report, could we have responses to these?
- What's the situation re Town Centre Mgr in W Ealing?
- Will Ward Forums be part of the decision-making process?
| ALL: review list, add, comment. DH: co-ordinate and send back to council.

2. WEN and Green Man Lane Estate redevelopment
| We need a plan for how we get involved, and for that we need more information on everything but we lack areas of expertise: density measures, traffic flows, community facilities for younger and older people, town centre development, green space, access from North, West and South. Fact known: A councillor rang DH to say that the council are selling the multi-storey and other carpark to developers. £2.3m of Section 106 available for work developing plans and re-housing etc (£1m of this has already been put into council cash-flow). There's a GME working party meeting, in Sept, DH and EL to attend.
| GA draft note for DH to send to Dick Johns, Head of Planning Policy, Sir Peter Hall, town planner extraordinaire, WEN members and SEC members, to see if we can get any help for vision.
|
3. Abundance
| Abundance coming earlier than anticipated; need to bring forward date of cookathon to mid Sept, or postpone to next year. Several trees now located: Pears in Sutherland Ave, Crab apples in Grosvenor, last year's tree in Grosvenor and DH allotment trees. So we'll be able to do some picking and giving away in any case.
| GA phoning Linda Massey; will advise of new date asap

4. SEC
| At moment, hard to manage

5. SEAL

6. Ward Forums
| Still no dates for these. Alison Franklin has volunteered to cover the Ealing Broadway ward forum. Rest of committee can cover Walpole, Elthorne, Cleveland. Northfields still up for grabs.
| DH meeting Alison Franklin DH putting out request for someone to cover Northfields

|
8. Waitrose and Sainsbury's
| Triumphs! Nearly all S's trolleys now have £1 coin slots; fence, trees, and blinds now working in Waitrose. Thanks to DH.
|
|
9. Shopping bags
| GA examined belonging to CVS with a view to moving this on but meantime there are now so many non-plastic bags in W Ealing, perhaps we should not bother. Peripherally have discovered there are ‘thousands of volunteers in W Ealing with no projects; many of them young and many of them moslems'. So will proceed to get involved.

10. Chignell Place drugs bust
| DH asked Sgt Chana to talk to Michael Sylvester, hairdressers' which had been used as a holding place for suspects during this and done his reputation no good via Gazette article. Outcomes: DS Chana met Michael and invited Michael to Safer Neighbourhoods' Forum; Michael's business featured favourably in the Gazette. Thanks to DH
