Dickens Yard Planning Committee Meeting expected end September/early October. EH and CABE have published unfavourable reviews. Generally unfavourable response by SEC to Glenkerrin's Arcadia/Leaf2 exhibition in July. Much good work has been invested in an SEC Constitution and in a positive SEC Vision for the development of the centre of Ealing. EL to continue to represent WEN at SEC. Action: EL
We also need a better understanding of all aspects of Section 106 money,
We need to learn from SEC as to how to approach helping to save West Ealing. WEN's input to the embryonic Local Development Framework (LDF) needs to be timely and appropriate. Dick John's is key to the LDF. Gill, an ex-colleague of Dick's, to contact him with a view of an informal drink with WEN in September. Action: GA
7.SEAL The Cast Iron Company has been appointed by Southern Electric Contracting (SEC) to sandblast, extend, update the posts; fashion and attach new swan necks and connect new lanterns - for all the 450 -550 cast-iron posts to be re-used in the Heritage Quarter (HQ). SEC will remove all cast-iron posts and re-insert the updated ones in the HQ. The trial of different lanterns will take place in Green Avenue and Conningsby Road in October. The updated posts will be painted in situ in the old Victorian livery of dark green bases and the rest in cream. The ninth meeting between SEAL, Ealing Civic Society and Ealing Council takes place on 8th September.
Hanwell residents persuaded the Labourl Shadow Council to ‘call in' the Cabinet's 22nd July decision to proceed with the £1.26 million HQ and Conservation Areas' lighting projects. Hanwell has been very unhappy of late that their cast-iron posts are being removed for use in the HQ and replica Heritage posts are replacing them in Hanwell. At an Ealing Council Overview and Scrutiny Meeting on 14th August there were heated arguments as to what happened vis a vis Hanwell street lighting and the run-up to the 2005 Street Lighting PFI. It was eventually decided by 8 votes to 6 to uphold the 22nd July Cabinet decision. 8. Accounts FP will meet with AC to review the accounts.
