HOW TO BECOME A WEN MEMBER AND PARTICIPATE ON THE WEN WEBSITE E-mail Print

One of the (many) great things about WEN is that membership is free. And so is this website (thanks to the generosity of Nick who built it and maintains it, which is beyond price, thanks Nick).
You can choose your different levels of involvement and there are three, the first one of which doesn't even need you to have a computer! The other two may take you on a short, but exciting, learning-curve in being able to contribute to the content of both this website and the discussion forum attached to it. If you get stuck, you can always email for help but read to the end of this first.

1. Most important, please sign up as a WEN Member if you agree with our ideas/ideals. This way you get free hard-copy or emailed newsletters and we can make sure we invite you to public meetings about issues such as the tram, regeneration, etc. You get a vote, too, when the AGM comes around. Even if you never come back to this website, it's worth doing this now.  Download the form and follow instructions. Click here.

2, If you've got information to impart, news to print, Events to publicise, documents to share, then please register as a Contributory Website Member.
If you register as a user of the West Ealing Neighbours website, you can contribute to it; that means you help shape how it develops, influence what sort of content appears in it and, above all, contribute to making it a valuable and vibrant resource for all of us who live in, work in and visit West Ealing. Your items will be monitored, though, so we keep a tidy, sensible site.
When you've registered, you'll be able to:
·        Submit weblinks to your favourite local sites
·        Submit news items to go on the site
·        Submit photos for our Gallery of what you love or hate about West Ealing
·        Suggest other types of content that you would like to see on this site
All news items and photos will be looked at by the editorial team before going live
Please use the create account link on the left of the screen to sign up.
Note: if you are having difficulty reading the required validation code try right-clicking and choose ‘refresh' which gives you a new episode of the page and the code until you are provided with an option you can read better. Also note that any ‘0' character that you see is the one on the number-pad of your keyboard not the letter of the alphabet.
To cancel your user account in the WEN Web Site, please email WestEalingNeighbours@gmail.com and we will take care of that request.

3. If you want to be involved in online forum discussions then you need to sign up additionally to post to the forums (link is at the top left of this page). It runs on a different system to the website contributor system, so you do need two sign-ups. Try to use the same user-name and password for both sign-ups so you only have one set of ‘identity' to remember.
These forums are very well-featured and, yes, it may take a little time to work out how to get the best from them, but it's worth lurking for a bit and then having an experiment; just write a note saying you're experimenting, for example and others will help by responding to queries. One of the best features is that, if you start a Topic, (let's say you want to talk about the Farmers' Market and the price of strawberries), you can ‘ask' the system to drop you an email if someone answers your Topic so you know to go back and find out who wants to discuss the price of strawberries with you.
That's it, for now, queries as ever should be emailed to westealingneighours@gmail.com .
