Rants were responded to by attendees. WEN follow-up: Lido Junction Lido Junction issues. Current traffic measurement appears to be part of a London-wide scheme. £130,000 appears to be a ‘traffic jam busting initiative'. Neither activity involves WEN. Living Streets - an organisation which supports the interests of pedestrians - to be contacted re pedestrian safety at the junction. Action: DH EPTUG (Ealing Passenger Transport Users' Group) to be contacted. Action: AF to contact Mike Tyzack Transport consultant and WEN member Chris Veasey to be contacted. Action: EL WEN to call a meeting to discuss Lido Junction with Five Roads, WRA, KRA, DCA and WEN. Action: DH Gordon Road Ealing Broadway Ward Forum and Cleveland Ward Forums to be requested to discuss roundabout ‘ideas' at the junction of Gordon Road and The Avenue. Action: DH to contact Evelyn Gloyn at mywardmatters No gritting of pavements leading to Ealing Broadway Station Many stories of broken limbs outside The Feathers/Townhouse derelict pub on the big snow day last month. WEN to issue FOI request to Ealing Council re what they did re gritting pavements on that day and overnight before. Action:EL CPZs WEN to raise the nature of CPZ reviews as a 2009 Council Scrutiny topic. Just mailing the residents is an insufficient review. A review should be from a community aspect ie how has the imposition of a CPZ improved or degraded the residential, business, retail and cultural environment? Action: EL St John's OPEN DOOR Publicised on WEN web site and in March WEN newsletter. Local History Two members have expressed an interest in this, along with CG Action: DH 2.Chris and Sally's Ideas Chris and Sally's good ideas concerned membership, social aspects, community projects, social and economic exclusion and fund raising. Chris feels that with more and different efforts invested, WEN's membership and activity levels can be increased. WEN Facebook and Twitter were proposed. In total ignorance of what this means EL expressed concerns about content management and consistency vis a vis web site content. CG given go ahead to initiate a WEN Facebook. GA and CG will jointly administer the Face Book NG to be asked to comment on the initiative Action: CG,GA and NG CG and SG were invited to join the WEN Committee and they accepted. Action: GA to invite them to join the WEN Yahoo Group 3. WEN Web Site Food Shop Reviews Seven so far. AF will do two more on 13th March, and DH will do one more. With 10 reviews WEN will launch the service. Action: AF & DH 4. Who owns West Ealing Broadway properties? WEN will discover this Action:EL 5. Regeneration of West Ealing Centre DH and EL meeting Marianne Downie and Nick West-Oram in Perceval House on 12th March. EL pointed out that it had taken weeks to set up this meeting; progress on revitalising the centre had been very slow over the last 2.5 years of his involvement; and zero information was forthcoming about prospective cosmetic changes to Dean Gardens and Melbourne Avenue; and there was no update on the ‘improvement' of West Ealing Library closed now for over three months. Action: DH & EL WEN has to become involved with the ongoing Local Development Framework (LDF) meetings with regards to West Ealing. Action: EL 6. SEC Progress on organising itself for the Arcadia Government Public Enquiry is seen to be slow. Will French is the new SEC Chairman. Next SEC meeting is 9th March. Action: AF & EL 7. Abundance Bread making at St James Church, 9th May Action: GA & DG 8. GMLE WEN attended GMLJWG meting on 23rd February and the two competing developers' exhibition on 28th February. Both developer ‘offerings' are primarily large housing estates. Very little in the away of community, shopper, sporting, cultural, health and safety services and facilities are contained in either ‘offering'. Residents seem keen to choose A2dominion/Rydan/Conran, which on balance is the least worst of the two ‘offerings'. Action: DH & EL 9. 44, Felix Road Derelict shop wants to re-open and sell booze. WEN to email members. Action: DH 10. Ealing Summer Festival WEN wants some of it in Dean Gardens. Action: AF 11. March WEN Newsletter EL distributed draft copy. Feedback ASAP. Action:All 12. SEAL All HQ work seems to have ground to a halt. SEAL/Council/ECS meeting on 9th March should reveal all. Action: EL 13. Drayton Green Flats Three flat developments have been unearthed, which would bring some 203 new residents into 83 new homes all virtually over-looking the Green. Car parking locally is already a major problem. Both local primary Schools - St John's and Drayton Green - are both full, so where would the young children to be educated? WEN will campaign against these blocks of flats being built. Action:EL Next meeting; Wednesday 8th April, 2009 |
