1. AGM follow up CPZs, gritting of pavements etc
WEN to make Freedom of Information request to see if the pavements were every going to be gritted
WEN to continue to seek clarification of Council CPZ policy and objectives

2. Next public meeting - ideas for topics
Ideas included:
- focus on centre of West Ealing / redevelopment / Green Man / metropolitan status
- West Ealing forum - where we could provide a platform for debate and asking of questions (seen to be particularly valuable given the decline of local newspapers)
- demo of web site, twitter, etc (if projector available)
- sale of GML and impact of loss of 10 acres of public land

Proposed agenda to be put together and circulated
Approach to be made to the mosque as a potential venue

3. Green Man Lane development
a2dominion/Rydon chosen by the council as preferred developer for the site
WEN concerns include:
- how the development interfaces with other parts of West Ealing,
- access to the site,
- loss of car park capacity
 

 

 

4. Lido Junction
DH has worked with WEN member, Colin Izzard, to develop a couple of ideas for improving pedestrian crossing at the junction:
- introduce a pedestrian-only phase for the lights
- add an extra crossing set back on Drayton Green Road
Next step - creation of a working party to focus on fleshing out plans to present to the council and creating a file of issues with current situation.

5. Regeneration
DH had some recent meetings to discuss plans for Melbourne Avenue and Dean Gardens.

6. SEC
EL gave update - both Dickens Yard and Arcadia have stalled awaiting further work on energy efficiency and preparation of statements of case ahead of the June public enquiry, respectively
 

 

 

7. Abundance
Pub meeting to be held on 12 May
Baking Day, scheduled for [date] at St James' church hall.  WEN to fund first event

Development of multi-media strategy to increase WEN's reach
- Twitter presence established
- Facebook site being considered
- Potential to leverage existing content via a blog format

11. SEAL
Success of scheme to date noted by all.
EL updated that work has slowed down as the Council has run short of suitable posts
 

 

 

12. WEN constitution - ensuring continuity
Current constitution bars committee members from serving for more than three years - in principle a sound idea but is 3 years the right period of time?
Next step - to formulate a plan to ensure WEN momentum is maintained and set down succession planning framework.

We thought there was one, but someone checked and there wasn't, so we will draft one

Draft set of rules to specify what is and is not acceptable for people to post on our forum

Noted that some Ward Forums have focused on ‘small' issues rather than enabling discussion of the major projects with widespread impact.  WEN members to ask for statements / updates on the ‘big' things (eg Local Development Framework when we go to Forums

16. St James' Avenue
Noted that, since the closure of Richer Sounds, the Northern, pedestrianised, section of St James Avenue has become a site for anti-social behaviour. 
WEN to coordinate meeting of stakeholders to formulate an improvement plan

17. Seaford Avenue pocket park
Noted that Ann Chapman, at WEN's instigation, successfully intervened to stop the sale of this land, however sale appears likely when the property market recovers.

18. Local Development Framework
DH said there will be two points in the process for public consultation - this summer on the major themes and later this year on the specific proposals/sites etc.
