1. Next public meeting and committee meetings

WEN's next public meeting is set at 30th September 2009 in Dean Hall.  Schedule of meetings for the rest of the year are:

Wednesday 23rd September - 8.00pm

Saturday 31st October - 11.00am

Wednesday 25th November - 8.00pm

Wednesday 9th December - Xmas meeting and drinks after

Agenda for the public meeting is likely to be:

  • Lido Junction update
  • Local Development Framework
  • St Mungo's

2. Green Man Lane

Ian Jones has not supplied David or Eric any minutes from the meeting they attended. Eric suggested David send a note to Ian Jones asking for the minutes and when the public consultation is.  David agreed.

 3. Lido Junction

David is working on the paper and is arranging to meet David Millican and Tim Gould with an update on what WEN is working on.  Both are supportive of WEN's actions however the issue is one for TfL

4. Local Development Framework

The above is due to replace the current plan (UDP) and is a statutory requirement for all boroughs to adopt.  Ealing are coming to the LDF late in the day.  Four public consultation meetings are planned; the first at Ealing Town Hall on 9th September.  There is 6 weeks of consultation time, considering the amount of documents to read and difficulties getting hold of these documents WEN believes this timescales are far too short.

 5. Abundance

Diane provided an update on the above.  All chutneys have been made by Elizabeth, therefore only the jams need to be made for the November craft fair.  We have no suitable jars for the jams so need to source these asap.  Chris agreed to have an apple box outside his flat as this is a busy route into Ealing Broadway.

6. West Ealing Regeneration

The Library will open on 22nd September.  The customer care courses for local traders have been going very well.  Councillor Potts would like the old Woolies building listed.  Everything else in terms of proposals is going rather slowly.

 7. St James Avenue

Various ideas have been put forward regarding the regeneration of this space since Richer Sounds closed earlier in the year. Ideas so far are:

  • Monthly Craft Market (Martyn Clarke has put a plan in to Nick West-Oram for review)
  • Public Art Project
  • Dr Bike Clinic

Catalyst Housing are the landlords of the old Richer Sounds unit. Ealing Council would like to use the unit for adult education, however there are difficulties securing the unit for this by Dominion.  Oxfam are closing so this could be another option.  WEN has a role to play in getting something off the ground.

 8. West Ealing Festival

A few ideas yet to be finalised but could be based on food and music.  Eric has offered to take the lead on this project and will write a short paper on it for the next meeting on the 23rd September.

9. Crossrail

West Ealing station entrance will need to move to Manor road which requires a lot of thought re parking, drop off points etc.  The scrutiny panel is meeting this month and there appears to be an avoidance of public consultation.

10.SEC

There is a meeting on 7th September to discuss the St George, Dickens Yard development.

11. St John's School

The local residents have now had 2 meetings regarding the portacabin style extension to the school and the lack of consultation for this development. No-one from fromm the planning department at the council turned up to the last meeting.

12. New WEN blog

Nick has set up the bog and given WEN Committee user names and passwords.   This is currently being used for the Local Development Framework content
