Minutes of meeting, Saturday 31st October - Drayton Court Present: David Highton Nick Greenhalgh Chris Gilson Eric Leach Diane Gill Sally Gilson Sarah Judic
Apologies: Andrew Cazalet Allison Franklin Frank Proud Gill Adams 1. Green Man Lane David attended the Green Man Lane exhibition which showed a disappointing change from the crescent plan to one with 3 blocks. Linda Collett of the Green Man Lane's Residents Association reported that residents were horrified by the most recent plans. A new exhibition on 21st November will exhibit further developments and will likely be the last chance to see anything before planning application is submitted. The plans currently include gated areas, some of which is likely to be carried over into any subsequent plan. Lido Junction Following the report on the Lido Junction, David Millican's response has created uncertainty about what the impact of the report will be. To clarify, David will invite Mr Millican to a meeting to talk through the issues. There will be a table at next Saturday's craft fair where the road model and an information sheet will be used to inform people of the issues.
3.Local Development Framework Comments have been submitted by WEN and a number of other groups. More consultation can be expected in the new year.
4.Abundance Plans and preparation for next Saturday's craft fair have been organised. A total of 137 jars are ready for sale. A slightly cheaper price than last year of £2 jams and £3 chutneys has been agreed to try to move all stock. Diane has grown Apache and Scotch Bonnet chillies which will also be sold in packets of 3 for those who want to further spice up their chutney.
Walpole Ward Forum has agreed a budget of £1,000.00 to look at ideas for producing local food. We need a meeting to create a development plan, Diane to organise. All at meeting were interested (Eric wasn't there at that point). Ideas need to be put to the Forum in January. 5. West Ealing Regeneration
Dean Gardens is currently having work done to expand both play areas, improve paths, entrances and planting. This work is likely to take until Christmas. Improvements to Melbourne Avenueare likely to begin in January. Plans for St James Avenue are stuck, with proposals for a craft market frustratingly taking a very long time to grind through the Council's bureaucratic machine. 6. Festival Eric has emailed his ideas for a West Ealing Festival, and would like feedback/ideas to him by 20th November. 7. SEC Boris Johnson has given the green light to the Dickens Yard development. We await the Secretary of State's decision re. Arcadia. There is a distinct lack of optimism about SEC. Efforts are being moved to secure the long-term future of Pitzhanger Manor.
8. St Johns School The Council have admitted their error in not sending sufficient letters out prior to the building's delivery; however it is unlikely that they will take the building down now. 9. Newsletter Eric has almost completed newsletter. Chris to send Eric photographs of Pitshanger Manor.
10. Reading Group First meeting to be Tuesday 26th January at The Drayton Court at 7.30pm. Book: Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. West Ealing Library's Reading Development Officer will make books available on a trial basis so that the demand generated by the reading group can be established. Sarah yet to: set up a blog, give council details to add to their internet pages of clubs in the area, create leaflets to be distributed at next Saturday's craft fair, and create posters, some to be displayed in the Green Man Estate. 11. Next meeting Thursday 26th November - 8pm, this is a change from Wednesday 25th. Christmas dinner - Wednesday 9th December. Venue yet to be decided. Sarah Judic 1st November 2009 |
