The Lido Junction
Introduction
Named after the one-time cinema on the site where the new Lido building now stands, this busy junction has been a major safety concern for residents for many years. Indeed, when West Ealing Neighbours launched its website in August 2006 almost the very first post on it was asking when will anything be done to make it safer?
In the intervening years nothing of note has been done to improve pedestrian safety at a junction where only one of the four arms offers pedestrians the comfort of a signal to ensure a safe crossing. As a result, West Ealing Neighbours brought together an alliance of three local residents groups – WEN, Five Roads Forum and Kingsdown Residents’ Association – to form a small working group charged with the task of researching the problems at the junction and putting forward practical proposals to make it a safe place to cross.
The results of the group’s work have now been published and you can find the full report here on our website. The group is clear that this report is but the starting point in the drive for change at this junction and we welcome comments about our proposals as well as new ideas to solve the problems we have identified.
