Entering new Abundance produce sitingThis how to covers how to enter a new abundance siting such that it appears in the right place on the map.
LocationYou need to determine the precise longitude and latitude location of where the produce site is. There are 2 free tools available to do this. Google Earth and the site http://maps.google.co.uk Google Earth is good for getting the location of an area that has no address. By zooming in and pin pointing the tree or bush you can get a very precise location. Simply set the latlong display setting in Tools - Options to decimal degrees - then move the hand on google earth over the location and write down the longlat value shown in the bar at the bottom of the google earth application. Maps.Google.Co.UK - is useful if you have a postcode or address. Simple enter the address in the search, see if the marker gets put where you expect, then if it is correct click the link option and copy and paste that somewhere where you can extract the sll= value. Here is a 1 minute video showing both these approaches. |
