Present:

Eric Leach

Apologies:

Gill Adams

Andrew Cazalet

Sally Greenbrook

Nick Greenhalgh

Sarah Judic

1. Green Man Lane

The new plans are now available though it's muh easier to see them at the GML community centre than online or at Perceval House. Tom Rigby of Rydon's, the builders, has offered to meet WEN to discuss the latest designs.

Some concern still over there being no environmental impact statement and whether this is to avoid possible challenges to the plans.

WEN needs to lodge its objections again.

2. Abundance

Diane said everything made is being sold. She has talked to the headteacher at Oaklands School but she has yet to decide what, if anything, Abundance should be doing with schools.

She attended a recent Friends of Blondin Park meeting to talk about Abundance.

Eric mentioned the plans for a new community orchard that was approved by the recent Elthorne Ward Forum.

3. Regeneration

The seating will take 12-14 weeks to be delivered so completion of phase 1 likely in October. The Council is keen on a launch event and WEN willing to have Abundance related activities as well as its own stall to recruit more members. Awaiting a definite date for this event.

4. 51 Drayton Green

The asbestos removal work is now complete and no work is now happening on site. English Heritage has objectd to the plans to demolish the building.

5. Dean Gardens

The work is still not finished. The area around the car in the toddlers playground is filthy. WEN to follow up with council.

6. West Ealing Arts

David Highton reported that this new organisation has been set up to oversee and fundraise for local arts activities such as the use of an empty shop as a gallery and worshop space. It has put in bids for funding from both Walpole and Elthorne Ward Forums and also Ealing and Brentford Consolidated Charity. The lease on the shop looks likely to be for 6 months and the aim is to open on 31st July. David will be Treasurer for time being until more people are recruited to the committee and elections take place.

7. Craft Market

The proposal for WEN to run the annual arts and crafts market at St James has been sent to the DCC for a decision on Monday 12th July.

Ann Chapman is being very helpful in talking to Council officials about the possibility of siting the monthly crafts fair in St James Avenue.

8. Leeland Terrace Pocket Park

At the Walpole Ward Forum there had been a proposal to spend £3,000 on flower beds in the little pocket park on the corner of Melbourne Ave and Leeland Terrace. David explained that he had offered to ask the WEN commitee if it supported the idea of taking this project on and supplying the design and labour and only asking for teh cost of plants.  The committee agreed and David to draw up a plan and timetable for this project.

9. SkyRide

Concern over amount of notice given for this event on Sunday 18th as it requires cars being cleared from a number of residential streets. Will residents know and be able to move theirn cars in time?

10. Walpole Ward Forum

If we have any projects that need funding now is the time to submit them to the Walpole Ward Forum.

11. Save Ealing's Centre

The Judicial Review of Dickens Yard was turned down. There will be a meeting with the Council's Nick O'Donnell about the idea of an integrated transport hub at Ealing Broadway station. The belief is that Haven Green is still a village green and was wrongly redesignated by the Council some while back. There was a meeting with Council leader Julian Bell recently and a meeting is hoped for with Pat Hayes.

Date of next meeting

Saturday 4th September at the Drayton Court Hotel
