| Will the works in Dean Gardens ever be finished?

The long-awaited improvements to Dean Gardens began late last year. The works were undoubtedly delayed by the long, cold winter but over six months on and the works are still not finished.
Much of the work is complete with new entrance areas, the extended play area for toddlers and outdoor gym equipment (albeit wrongly sited) but there are a nagging number of unfinished elements. The south eastern entrance opposite Mattock Lane has been fenced off for weeks with no sign of activity which has meant the cycle path has had to be diverted. There are tracts of bare earth either waiting for grassing or planting up as flower beds. With the recent removal of the toilets there is now a newly fenced off area steadily gathering rubbish. Why have these improvements become such a tortuous affair? We have heard numerous completion dates and none have been met. This is the only green space in central West Ealing and it is heavily used by local residents. Is there an end in sight? David Highton 16th July 2010 |
